In Sanskrit, the word ‘mukti’means freedom, liberation and salvation.
The name ‘mukti’ reflects the origins of our work which began in India over a century ago. Today, we partner with organisations in both India and Sri Lanka to empower disadvantaged children and women.
Mukti Australia is a Christian organisation seeking to change lives through a range of development initiatives that demonstrate, in a practical way, the love of Jesus Christ.

Our values are at the core of what we do and how we work:
We are motivated by our faith in Jesus Christ and by His heart for the poor, the oppressed and the marginalised.
We are committed to work with people to promote physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual wellbeing. We are committed to the transformation and empowerment of vulnerable women and children in particular, irrespective of their background, because we believe empowering women and children is the key to bringing about change in families and whole communities, and is effective in breaking generational cycles of poverty and exploitation.
We are committed to partnering with Australians and offering them the opportunity to genuinely engage with those we work with through prayer, volunteering and financial giving.
We are committed to partnering with organisations on the ground to accomplish our mission, and to building strong relationships characterised by mutual respect, genuine collaboration and openness. We seek to strengthen these partners through capacity building to promote the effectiveness and sustainability of their work.
We are committed to working professionally and value transparency, honesty and integrity in all our partnerships. We acknowledge our accountability before God for the use of our time and resources (financial, human and natural) and actively encourage our partners to do the same.
